Scoliosis is defined as an abnormal asymmetrical three dimensional spinal curvature. It is mostly occurring in females experiencing the growth spurt typically associated with undergoing puberty. The cause is usually unknown and therefore defined as idiopathic. 

Q: What is the typical shape of a scoliotic spine?
A: depending on the severity, when analyzed from behind, the spine can have the shape of the letter 'S' 

Q: Can  a scoliosis become dangerous?
A: Depending on the angle measured, a scoliosis can put pressure on the internal organs of the thoracic cage.

Q: Which gender is usually more affected by this condition?
A: Usually in females, undergoing puberty
